How can we improve on our lineout throw so that the hooker and the jumper get their timing right
Dreu,
There are a number of drills in our drills section on lineout and some of these may help you.
For me the key points in regards to timing are that:
The jumper times the jump to go up and meet the ball rather than jumping and then waiting for the throw as this gives the opposition time to get into position to intercept or disrupt.
I hope this helps

I'm new to the site but have played a very high Standard in South Africa.
Its very important that you get your Hooker in the Mentallity of "Throw Jump"(Hooker throw first before Jumper takes off). The only exception for this is your 2 ball in the front. If your 4 jumper cant get in the air in time, then its time your Supporters get stonger and more explosive.
When you place presure on your jumper and supporters to "chase" the ball, you'll suddenly see that their attention gets better because they are concentrating more. Also their lift will be quicker and in turn you will win clean ball.
THey will take time to get use to this, but once the click its plain sailing from their on... Hope this helps
